AMAZON is showing of its first ever Super Bowl ad this weekend, promoting their intelligent personal assistant Alexa – and they’ve recruited some A-list stars to be in the commercial.

What is Amazon’s Alexa Super Bowl ad and who’s in the line-up?
The 90-second advert sees Amazon’s Alexa lose her voice.
Amazon boss Jeff Bezos is then forced to approve a plan to bring in celebrities like Gordon Ramsay, Rebel Wilson, Cardi B and Anthony Hopkins.
Gordon is seen berating a man asking Alexa how to make a grilled cheese; Cardi wonders why anyone would want to go to Mars after a teen asks how far it is to the planet; Rebel talks dirty to a man who has asked Alexa to set the mood at his dinner party; and Anthony Hopkins tells a woman who is trying to call her boyfriend that he’s unavailable.
Michael Boychuk, Amazon executive creative director, said: “We’re always trying to innovate on behalf of our customers and even though I think we’ve proved conclusively that nobody could ever replace Alexa, we hope that viewers have as much fun watching this, as we had making it.”
It’s Amazon’s first ever Super Bowl ad, and will run during the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LII on Sunday, February 4.
The Amazon Alexa Super Bowl campaign will continue with supporting 30-second spots featuring Leslie Jones, JB Smoove and Rebel Wilson.
How much does a Super Bowl ad cost?
Advertisers such have shelled out at least $6 million – that’s around £4.25 million – for 30 seconds of ad time in the NFL championship game this year.
Amazon’s last 90 seconds – meaning they’ve shelled out almost £13 million for the air time.
The ads will reach an audience that typically exceeds 100 million viewers.
What’s the Carly Simon song in the Amazon Alexa ad?
At the end of the advert, Carly Simon can be heard singing her classic James Bond song Nobody Does It Better – signalling that Alexa is coming back.
