THE McFLY reunion has had more false starts than a DeLorean with a dodgy flux capacitor.
Danny Jones has now revealed plans for the band to work on new material this summer have been postponed – and confessed for the first time it’s more than just their busy schedules holding up a comeback.
The Voice Kids coach, whose solo music is available now, admitted the band are reluctant to rush back as they were on the verge of “burning out” before their hiatus in 2016.
Their caution comes after bandmate Dougie Poynter went into rehab for drink and drug addiction shortly after the release of their last album, 2010’s Above The Noise. Danny said: “We didn’t have a break for years. If you go too hard for too long, you burn out.
“You need a bit of change to come back, because you don’t want to burn out and not enjoy it. I’m not saying we did, but I feel we could have.”
It was Dougie who said in January that he, Danny, Tom Fletcher and Harry Judd would “at least start writing by the summer”. But Danny confessed: “We’ve not written anything yet. It’s got to be the right time.”
The star is also worried McFly, who clocked up seven No1s, won’t be cool enough for millennials. He said: “The industry has changed since we’ve been out of it. We used to do HMV signings. Now you go to Apple, Spotify.
“What I don’t want is to sound like you’re trying to cover your own band. You’ve got to move on.”
Danny revealed McFly fans were almost treated to a mini-reunion on his solo tour, which kicks off at the end of August.
He said: “I said to Harry Judd, ‘Why don’t you come and drum for me?’ and he was like, ‘It would be weird, mate’. So I was like, ‘OK, don’t worry, I’ve got to do this on my own’. These are my stories and I’m talking about stuff that is really personal to me.”
No rush, boys. Those screaming fans will still be waiting for you.

Dove lets fly at Insta
AS a teen she played a sweet Disney TV character, but Dove Cameron has grown up to be a woman with fiery opinions.
The Liv And Maddie actress blasted social media despite having 25million Instagram followers.
In an exclusive chat she said: “It’s not the be all and end all. Life is so much more than Instagram and social media.”
Dove is currently performing in The Light In The Piazza at the Royal Festival Hall, London, until July 5. The singer has wanted to play Clara in the musical since she was eight and even has a sun tattoo on her finger after one of the lyrics from the show.
If I was ever to get an inking, it’d be that.
Slice of Kendall
KENDALL Jenner devours a cheeky, cheesy slice of pizza – showing even supermodels enjoy junk food cheat days.
The world’s best-paid model posed on a posh bed for Adidas’s Originals Sleek Summer 2019 campaign in one of the sportswear firm’s jackets and trainers. The fast food binge clearly hasn’t affected her priceless figure.
She looked as slim as ever in an in-the-bath selfie she posted on her Instagram page.
I’ve been eating pizzas all my life and haven’t got a body like that.

Perfect time for Ben to ditch Pitch
A RETURN to Pitch Perfect is not on the cards for magician Benji Applebaum.
I can reveal Ben Platt won’t reprise the role in a fourth film as he juggles acting with a solo singing career.
Ben, who was in the first two teen comedies before giving way to a female-led cast in 2017, told me: “My character has sort of served its purpose and we’ve moved beyond it.
“The franchise has very rightly focused on the girls and their group and their story. It would be great to have more Pitch Perfects.”
Ben, who released debut album Sing To Me Instead in March, added: “I feel like I was a very different person than I am now.”
He has a packed year ahead, with West End show Dear Evan Hansen and Netflix comedy The Politician.
Meanwhile, Pitch Perfect’s Rebel Wilson was asked by Ellen DeGeneres about a new movie but said: “I can’t say anything officially.”
What a tease.
Jenna’s glowing glory
JENNA Coleman channelled her inner royal in this eye-catching gown.
The Victoria actress partied alongside celebrities including Maya Jama and Felicity Jones at the V&A Summer Party in London.
Jenna has played a young Queen Victoria in the ITV series since 2016 but won’t return for the next instalment as her character will be recast with an older actress.
And she isn’t happy about handing over her crown. Jenna, accompanied to the party by boyfriend and co-star Tom Hughes, said: “Recasting brings a lot of challenges and it’s hard as an actor. When you’ve taken it so far it’s hard to give it up.”

Emeli opens up on anxiety
EMELI Sande has opened up about suffering from anxiety and depression.
The singer revealed that her mental health plummeted after she split from husband Adam Gouraguine in 2013.
She said: “I was going through my separation and really trying to get my head around the industry and where I sat in it. I lost my confidence.
“I was thinking, ‘I’m just tired and stressed’. At the time, I was like, ‘I’m not depressed’, but looking back, and knowing how I am now as a person, I’ve realised.
“I never had therapy, and that would have fast-tracked things. It’s scary because it’s like quick-sand if you don’t recognise it.”
Now Emeli finds exercise and meditation help her deal with anxiety.
She said: “My anxiety came from overthinking. But learning how to breathe has helped me to relax and release endorphins.”
Speaking to Happiful Magazine, Emeli thinks her secret current beau is dating the best version of herself.
The singer – who has been linked to boxer Anthony Joshua – said: “Starting at zero again has given me such a strong foundation of who I am, what I’m giving them, and what I want back.
“I have started dating, and how I feel about myself now will hopefully help it make a lot more sense. He’s waited for the right time.”
Ed label
HE is a multi-millionaire with a string of hits, but Ed Sheeran hasn’t always had the Midas touch.
The Shape Of You singer’s record label, Gingerbread Man Records, made just £179,187 last year – a paltry sum considering Ed was on to this year’s Sunday Times Rich List with an estimated fortune of £160million.
Ed launched the label, part of Warner Music, in 2015 to sign new acts, including singer-songwriter Jamie Lawson.
Still it’s a step up from its performance back then, when it made a £342,096 loss. I guess the only way was up.

ROMEO Beckham’s attitude stinks – he couldn’t even pretend to be interested at dad David’s perfume launch in Italy. I think he even fell asleep at one point during their appearance at a shop in Milan.
Earlier, Romeo went to a watchmaking studio in the city to celebrate the end of his GCSEs.
The pair posted their adventures on Instagram with captions including, “So much fun!” and “Loving Milan”. It doesn’t look like it.
